About Hope in Grace

"Grace is God's undeserved power to accomplish His purposes."

Our Mission

Hope in Grace exists to share the transforming power of God's grace through daily devotionals, biblical teaching, and practical resources for spiritual growth. Every word points to Jesus and the hope we have in Him.

What is Grace?

After becoming a Christian, I was told that "grace means unmerited favor." While this is true as far as it goes, it isn't enough. Grace is so much more than a passive concept—it's the active movement of God in our lives.

Grace is God's undeserved power to accomplish His purposes.

When considering salvation, grace is the means and faith is the instrument. Grace is the living water by which we are saved. But grace doesn't stop at salvation—it continues to empower us for good works, to grow in holiness, and to become more like Christ.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
— Ephesians 2:8-10

Grace is opposed to earning, not effort. God saves us completely by His power, and then empowers us to live for Him—not to earn His love, but because we have received it.

About Greg Burtnett

I served as a pastor for many years and now serve as a chaplain, continuing to share God's Word and minister to those in need. Through this website and ministry, I hope to encourage believers with daily devotionals, biblical teaching, and practical resources for growing in faith.

The phrase "Hope in Grace" has been close to my heart since the AOL days in the mid-1990s. Since March 2020, I've been posting devotionals regularly, and this site brings them together in a searchable, accessible format so anyone can find encouragement from God's Word.
